7pm Tuesday 28th February – The Pier House
PC Simon Butterfield presents a live talk on the history of the Marine Policing Unit. His presentation promises to shed light on the role, specialist equipment and skills of London’s oldest police force and will be of interest to river users everywhere.
The Unit’s officers are trained to manage incidents in underwater and confined spaces as well as counter-demonstration operations at height. With 22 vessels and just 24 officers you’ve most likely caught a glimpse of the team, in a similar boat to the one pictured, among the flotilla accompanying the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race.
Doors open 6.30pm and refreshments will be on sale before the talk, which will last approximately one hour. Admission to the talk is free for members of Chiswick Pier Trust and £5 for non-members. Limited tickets will be available on the day so it is advised to pre-book – Book now.
